For the best defense, Rock types have very effective defense against Salandit, and will be resistant to damage from Salandit's STAB attacks:

Weaknesses

Salandit's type is Poison and Fire.

Salandit is especially vulnerable to Ground attacks, it will receive a super effective four times (4x) the amount of damage! Since Ground type Pokemon are especially strong against Salandit, you should attack with this type of Pokemon.

Salandit has a weakness to Ground, Psychic, Rock, Water types. These Pokemon types will be strong against Salandit, causing Salandit to take a super effective quadruple (4x) damage from Ground type attacks, and causing Salandit to take a super effective double (2x) damage from Psychic, Rock, Water type attacks.

Please keep in mind that Salandit is resistant to attacks from Bug, Fighting, Fire, Ice, Poison, Steel, Fairy, Grass types, and these attacks are not very effective and cause reduced damage, so they should be avoided.
