The types that are strong against Heatran are Ground, Fighting, Water type Pokemon.

For the best defense, Water and Fire types have very effective defense against Heatran, and will be resistant to damage from Heatran's STAB attacks:

Weaknesses

Heatran's type is Fire and Steel.

Heatran is especially vulnerable to Ground attacks, it will receive a super effective four times (4x) the amount of damage! Since Ground type Pokemon are especially strong against Heatran, you should attack with this type of Pokemon.

Heatran has a weakness to Ground, Fighting, Water types. These Pokemon types will be strong against Heatran, causing Heatran to take a super effective quadruple (4x) damage from Ground type attacks, and causing Heatran to take a super effective double (2x) damage from Fighting and Water type attacks.

Poison type attacks will have no effect on Heatran, as Heatran is immune to this type of damage! Please avoid these types of attacks.

Please keep in mind that Heatran is resistant to attacks from Dragon, Flying, Normal, Psychic, Bug, Fairy, Grass, Ice, Steel types, and these attacks are not very effective and cause reduced damage, so they should be avoided.
