The type that is strong against Gyarados is Electric type Pokemon.

Rock types will also deal super-effective damage against Gyarados, but be careful using Pokemon of this type because they may also receive extra damage from some of Gyarados' attacks!

Weaknesses

Gyarados' type is Water and Flying.

Gyarados is especially vulnerable to Electric attacks, it will receive a super effective four times (4x) the amount of damage! Since Electric type Pokemon are especially strong against Gyarados, you should attack with this type of Pokemon.

Gyarados has a weakness to Electric and Rock types. These Pokemon types will be strong against Gyarados, causing Gyarados to take a super effective quadruple (4x) damage from Electric type attacks, and causing Gyarados to take a super effective double (2x) damage from Rock type attacks.
