For the best defense, Poison, Steel, Fire types have very effective defense against Cottonee, and will be resistant to damage from Cottonee's STAB attacks:

Weaknesses

Cottonee's type is Grass and Fairy.

Cottonee is especially vulnerable to Poison attacks, it will receive a super effective four times (4x) the amount of damage! Since Poison type Pokemon are especially strong against Cottonee, you should attack with this type of Pokemon.

Cottonee has a weakness to Poison, Fire, Flying, Ice, Steel types.
